Anacalypsis by Godfrey Higgins (Part 2 of 3)
My notes and commentary on roughly Books 3, 4, and 5 of Volume 1
This is a continuation from Part 1:
Bulls
Baal is more complex than our sound-bite understanding:
In the same sense the Chaldeans likewise termed God a fire ; for Ur, in Chaldee, signifying both light and fire, they took light and fire promiscuously. “The name and image whereby they represented the Supreme God was that of Bel, as appears by the prohibition given by God himself not to call him so any more. `Thou shalt call me no longer Baali :' Bel with the Chaldeans is the same as Baal with the Phenicians, both derived from the Hebrew Baal.”
They who first translated the Eastern learning into Greek for the most part interpret this Bel by the word Zeus, Jupiter… Berosus (saith Eusebius) was priest of Belus, whom they " interpret Jupiter."
Ur sounds close to other words that depict gold or the sun fire, like Ormazd, Hormuz, Uriel (light of God), Uriah (God is light), or Aurum, the Latin for Gold (Au atomic symbol). However, Comyns Beaumont and others say Ur derives from bear, as in Ursa Major and Minor, as does King Arthur (but Arthur represents the golden Sun). By the way, Comyns sounds close to kmrim, the priests at Ur, and Comarin. Later, Higgins mentions that the Hebrew aur, Aour, or ur denotes fire. Orissa, Or-desa, Orissa, Urissa, and Uria are mentioned as synonymous with Ur of the Chaldeans. Then in Book 10 he states:
The word UR in the Indian language signifies also country or town… Then, when it is said that Abraham came from Ur of the Chaldees, it may mean, that he came from the country of the Chaldees or from Colida, not from the fire of the Chaldees.
This makes sense also, since a glance at a map of India shows many places such as Brahmapur, Solapur, etc.
Baaltis is later mentioned as the female aspect of the Sun, whereas Baal is represented by a male bull. In the Egyptian version, the two ‘beeves’ or cows at On were Apis and Nevis, Nevis being feminine. This is related to the female name Neve, and nave, which relates to the Argo naval ship, and the navel of Vishnu, from where Brahma emerged. And considering that ‘apis’ connotes both bees (e.g., apiary) and beeves/bovines, could this be related to the ‘milk and honey’ Chrism oil going up and down the spine? Strange that ‘beeve’ is close in spelling to ‘bee’, and what type of vine is ‘bovine’, or is it akin to divinity? Bethlehem is where this Christos is ‘born’ when the moon is in your Sun sign, i.e., your Solar Plexus, around your navel. The Sanskrit Lakshmi is equivalent to the Hebrew Lechem bread (beth lechem) and is related to milk, e.g., lactose, lactating.
Higgins mentions that the Hindu god Mahadeva rides a bull and has commonalities with Jupiter as well as Lapis, the Bull of Europa- another ‘apis’. I wonder if this is related to Lapis Lazuli, which translates to blue stone (azul is blue in Spanish). And recall Jupiter was also called Serapis.
Baalbek/Balbec is also mentioned, the site in present-day Lebanon with the thousand ton carved stone blocks. “Bahal-beth and Balbec mean Balbit, house of the Sun or Bal.” Beelzebub has a similar root:
Thus Baal-Zebub is in Iberno Celtic, Baal Lord, and Zab Death, Lord of Death ; but he is also called Aleim, the same as the God of the Israelites ; and this is right, because he was one of the Trimurti or Trinity .
Cities or people named Ballard or Bullard seem related- Baal Lord. And maybe the carmaker, Saab, means something like lord? Does Zep Tepi mean time of the lords? Sabiism is mentioned later, better known now as Sabaism, the worship of stars. Zba/Sabah are mentioned as meaning a congregation of heavenly hosts/gods, like on top of Mount Meru or the Pantheon, and the Sabbath is the 7th day, Sun-day, so stars relate back to the number 7. But it also means wisdom:
The root of Sabasio is Sab, the plural of which means the Planetary bodies possessing wisdom,-the disposers . The word Sab, (see Chap. VI. Sect. 11, p . 716,) Cleland has told us, means wisdom.
Later, Kabzeel is mentioned meaning ‘congregation of the Sun’.
Hercules represented the Sun in the Age of Aries, and Bacchus represented the Sun in the Age of Taurus. Bacchus is associated with Shiva (the screenshot below states Bacchus is the ‘devourer’). I feel that Higgins missed a chance to understand the importance of the Pleiades (in the Taurus constellation), the Seven Sisters, and the Taurus constellation as a way to understand the pervasiveness of so much bull symbolism. He hardly mentions the Pleiades at all. Taurus literally means red cross (Tav is the last Hebrew letter, as was tau in previous versions of Greek, so it’s like a crossing into the next level/realm/dimension.), and I’m sure a cross in these stars has importance with the priest and elite class in the know.
Also consider that instead of a cow bull, Taurus is an ox bull, as in the four fixed signs of the Zodiac: Lion, Ox, Man, Eagle (Scorpio used to be depicted as an Eagle (Aquila), as well as the snake), and ‘ox’ not only has the two glyphs that make up the symbol of the Earth, the circle and the cross, but Aleph is said to look like an ox.
And consider that there are hardly any references to the Age of Gemini and before, although more relics are lost through the ages, but even the Age of Pisces doesn’t seem to pervade the culture like all of the bull symbolism. The rare mention of the Pleiades is interesting, and this makes sense since there are 7 Rishis, the Saptarishis, although they were not 7 sisters:
The Pleiades were believed to be different from all other stars in having a motion within themselves . Perhaps it might be for some reason connected with this, that they were called Rishees or Rashees, but their epithet or quality of wisdom shews what they were.
Another concept that Higgins misses, which is understandable since it was not as prevalent as it is currently, is the idea that everything is waves of energy, creating torus fields and its inverse, hyperboloids. The ‘bol’ in hyperboloid and ‘torus’ are connected with bull and Taurus. So the two bulls/bowls could be referring to the vortices such as the two ends of an apple or poles of the Earth, etc.
The God Baal was both masculine and feminine, and the God of the Jews was once called Baal .
Baal is the planet Jupiter in Hebrew. Higgins mentions that the Irish word Beal means the Sun, and that the Hebrew Bol “probably came our word Bull.” Cibola in Spanish means bison, and it’s curious how unison means one son/Sun/sound, like universe, whereas two Suns equates to bison. The Hebrew smim/smin (shamaiyam), meaning the planets/disposers, is mentioned as meaning a ‘Beeve of either gender’. The Apis and Nevis bovines, as well as Baal/Baaltis are examples of this bi-bull concept. And consider the word equator, implying two toruses that are equal. Also consider that ‘divinity’ implies a division of the unity, which would be the Ain Soph, the absolute, the principle, etc.
Omphalos at Delphi
Greek oracles are called the ‘navels’ of the earth, for example the Omphalos at Delphi.
The Jews consider Jerusalem the ‘navel of the earth’.
Delphi, as Mr. Faber has observed, has the meaning of the female organ of generation, called in India Yoni, the Os Minxae.
Delphi also means ‘matrix, womb’. Delphi also means dolphin in Greek, and this could be tied to ‘womb’, since they are womb-bearing ‘fish’. The Oracle founded Delphi in the form of a black dove. Iune in Hebrew means dove. Iuno is the Roman goddess of the same Ionic/Yoni power, later renamed Juno, like many words after the J was introduced, the wife of Iu-pater (maybe Iu-no should be Iu-nu to counterbalance Iu-pater). The Greek Ionians emigrated from the Indus Valley, Higgins asserts. “At Delphi the response came from a fissure or crack in the mountain, the Yoni of the earth .” The dove is the Hebrew emblem of the ruh/ruach or Holy Ghost/Spirit, the third aspect of the Holy Trinity (which makes sense, if we consider that doves fly in the wind, the ruach or “air in motion”, respiration, inspiration, church spires, spirals, etc. And it could be that our spirit enters into us when we take our first breath at birth, which would be the time of your ascendent sign.). The dove is the emblem of the female procreative power. Another connection to Matrix womb, cows, and doves is the Hebrew word mria:
In the Hebrew and Arabic languages we have the word Maria… which means a female beeve, and also a wild dove .
The dove was the emblem of the Regenerator. When a person was baptized, he was regenerated or born again . A Dove descended on to the head of Jesus at his baptism.
Shiva is also the regenerator/destroyer.
Omphalos/Omphale/Omphe/Omphi/Omphis/Ompi was also called Umbilicus and is related to the ship Argo. It was considered the navel of the Earth, the Nabbi/nabhi, and the female generative power. So notice the union of female and male generative powers, womb/om and phallus/phalos, as we will see with the Argo/Ark/the Hindu Argha, Lingam and Yoni, the lotus plant, navels, etc. The umbilical cord is like the mast coming out of the navel. Hestia/Vesta is connected with Bacchus- he was called Omestes/Om-Esta. Ista/est is Latin for he or she is (think estrogen). The Hebrew ‘Har-al-ompi’ is connected to Olympus. The word triumph (French triomphe) is related and later Higgins states:
Creuzer shews that Rome was called an Olympus, and in their ceremonies they chanted Tri-omphe, Triomphe- that is, the triple Omphe .
Omphale is one of the wives of Hercules, the Delilah to the similar Samson.
On, Om, Aum
Am, om, um connotes a cycle or circle, for example, circumnavigate. The Persian Hama means the Sun, as well as in Hebrew. ‘On’ means Sun, like the equivalent Greek name, Heliopolis, and in the Hebrew Old Testament begins with aleph and is pronounced like ‘aun’ or ‘an’.
[Hebrew] oinn, where John baptized, was called by a figure of speech only Aenon, or the fountain of the sun .
In Part 3 of this series, I detail the relationship of John the Baptist and Oannes, the Babylonian fish god.
Aven, is no other than the Egyptian deity Aun or On : for the very God whose worship Hosea identifies with that of the calves, is he of whom Potipherah is said to have been the priest…
Beth-Aven means house of Aven, so another similarity to ‘Beethoven’. Bethaven is mentioned as corresponding to On/Heliopolis, and means ‘place of unworthiness’, and the ‘sin of Israel’, but maybe ‘ave’ is referring to a dove again? And is this related to ‘avenue’? Also, did you realize ‘heaven’ is he-aven, and in Latin is ‘coeli’, as in Medium Coeli, the MC of astrology, so coeli looks like co-gods. Potipherah or Potipher shows the ‘fiery’ root similar to Pharaoh, as well as Ra, the Sun rays. Notice how ‘Potiphar’ is similar to Ptah, and we know his son (well, son-in-law) is Joseph/Iu-sif, sif meaning son, according to Gerald Massey’s Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World. So then the Roman god/planet corresponding to Iu-sif’s father is…? Massey uses the term Annu for On, which makes me wonder how this is related to annual or Annunaki, etc.
Hom and er, or eer, which word, Nimrod says, " is indicative of early or beginning time, whether it be THE OPENING OF A MUNDANE CYCLE, the spring of a year, or the morning of a day ." … Homer or Om-eer was a Solomon- if the epithet given to the poem do not mean the poems of Om-heri the saviour OM. Near Ajemere, in India, is a place called Ummerghur, that is, the walled city of Ummer or Omer.
So er/eer is like era, premiere, year. Mihr is mentioned as a Persian word for the Sun, and mihira as a Hindu word for the Sun, which is probably related to Mira/Miriam/Mary, etc. I wonder if the word mire connotes the tangible quality of materiality, like being mired in mud. And when you admire someone or something, you are too attached to them or it, especially the labels we value so much, like Admiral, not the substance of the person.
The word am in the Hebrew not only signifies might, strength, power, firmness, solidity, truth, but it means also mother, as in Genesis ii. 24, and love, whence the Latin Amo, mamma.
Higgins then derives the word Amon to mean: “temple of the strength of the generative or creative power, or the temple of the mighty procreative power .” But also, in the feminine or maternal aspect, it is represented by a host of female goddesses representing the Sun. If Venus means ‘preserving mother’, then the word corresponds with Alma, Al the preserver and ma the mother. Interesting that the Hebrew ‘olme’ (young virgin) is close to the ancient ‘Olmec’ people across the world, and of course Mayan is similar to Maya/Maia, but is the reverse of Al-ma, ma-yah. Omh for the Irish Druids means ‘he who is’, which is close to ‘am’ as in ‘I am’. Ammon in ancient Syria or Canaan was also a ‘Heliopolis’ or On or Hebrew Omun. Omanum was also an equivalent city in Arabia, not sure how close it is to Oman or Yemen. Several cities named Memmon also, and Amman, etc. The Umbri were Etruscans, which the Greeks pronounced ‘Ombrici’. Names like Northumberland and Cumberland are related, and I’m sure ‘umbrella’, ‘umbrage’ as well, which connote the absence of Sunlight.
Whereas the bull represents the Sun in the Age of Taurus, e.g., Osiris as the sacred black bull Mnevis at Heliopolis, the ram represents the Sun in the Age of Aries, e.g., the ram’s horns of Ammon, Jupiter Ammon (I wonder if the M was added to Nevis previously mentioned for numerology purposes, or could Mnevis be the masculine version of Minerva?).
Many places had Om in their names:
Surya
Sur in Hebrew is the beeve or bull Taurus (of course!) at the Vernal Equinox. Surya is the Japanese bull god that breaks the ‘mundane egg’. Similarly in Thai mythology, “Taurus broke the vernal egg of Siam, well known to Virgil, with his horn.” Higgins states that Tur and Sur are interchangeable. Surya is also the Sun in Persia and India (Higgins thinks Zor in Zoroaster is a similar root to Sur). Surya is also the Buddha. The sanskrit Iswara is an epithet for Shiva and means Lord. His wife is Isi, as Isis is Osiris’s wife. Hellanicus spelled Osiris as Ysiris. Srr with the double resh in Hebrew means absolute ruler, the Lord. Notice the ‘sir’ in Osiris. The English ‘sir’ is a title given to a knight. ‘Sr’ also means umbilical cord, the funis umbilicalis - there’s umbi/omphi again, and Higgins mentions that “Upon the highest convexity or umbo of Achilles's shield stood a palm or Phoinix tree.” Saura is also mentioned as a variant of Surya. The Scythians had a god called Goeto-Syrus, or Good Star.
Sura in Sanscrit means light, and Asura means darkness . This is evidently the Surya, and [Hebrew] sr, Osiris.
We want to avoid Asuras, for sure.
Persian Trinity, Zoroaster
Mithra/Mithras was the Mediator, the Saviour, the middle in the Persian trinity between Ormusd and Ahrimanus. Mitre joints are midway between the two angles that it joins. Mithras means love, pity, and Mither in Persian means Lord. Priestly mitre hats are related. Mitra is a Hindu god. Are Mitra, Mithra and mitre related to meter? If so, then Demeter?
The Bull was the emblem of the Sun- of Mithra, called Lord, and of the God in the land where Surya or the Sun, with seven heads, was adored.
Ormusd/Ormazd/Hormuzd/Ormis-das/Oromasdes/Ahura Mazda (the inspiration for the car company) is:
the principle (le principe) and the centre of all things : my name is, He who is, who is all, and who preserves all ."
I see Ormus in those terms (Arabic Hormuz- always reminds of that stupid Gulf War I), and the Sun is golden, although it’s more white these days.
In the major Zoroastrian work called the Zendavesta:
we meet with a being called ‘the Word’ who … gave birth to Ormuzd, the creator of good ; and to Ahriman, the creator of evil .
So this ‘Word’ is equivalent to logos or the Latin verbum, wisdom, buddhi, mens (as in mind), rasit, etc.
Pharisees has an alternate name mentioned as ‘Persees’, so this is probably related to Persians, and ‘Pharisees’ sounds like Farsi. Wikipedia does not mention ‘Persees’ or ‘Farsi’ in its article for ‘Pharisees’. I wonder if Perseus is related to Persia. Persephone is mentioned as Proserpine, so does she have something to do with serpents? She did have her adventure in the underworld.
Zoroaster has an alternate name mentioned as ‘Zeradust’, so apparently, dust is equivalent to ‘aster’ or star, which makes sense when you think of tiny stardust (d’ast, from stars?). Iranians call him Zartosht or Zartusht. There’s also Zaratushrta, or Nietzsche’s Zarathustra. Zar reminds me of Czar or the Khazars or sir, surplus, Surya (Sun), etc. And Higgins mentions later that Ezra/Esdras was a ‘Zoroaster’. Zur is mentioned as a word for star, along with Syr and Astre. So surely Syria is related.
Other Trinities
Macrobius, in describing the Trinity, “distinguishes three degrees, Deus, Mens, and Spiritus.” So God, Mind, and Spirit.
Mercury was called Triceps ; Bacchus Triambus ; Diana Triformis ; and Hecate Tergemina… Orpheus also calls Bacchus Mediator, the same as Mithra of the Persians. Proserpine had three heads ; the Triglaf of the Vandals had also three heads ; … The Trimurti was the Trimighty of the Saxons, the Trimegas of the Greeks, and the Ter-magnus of the Latins. The Trinity is equally found amongst the Druids of Ireland in their Taulac Fen Molloch .
There’s Moloch found amongst the Druids. And many gods with trinitarian terminology. We know Hermes Trismegistus, but I had never heard of the three-headed Mercury.
I suppose The Three Musketeers then is referring to the Trinity?
Similar to the previously mentioned quote from Nachmanides are the Trinity capstone (corona, wisdom, and prudence) on top of the seven planets of the Sephiroth:
Orpheus asserted that God is a power with these three facets: “Light, Counsel, Life.” (ΦΩΣ, ΒΟΥΛΗ, ΖΩΗ). This “philosopher Orpheus” (the same Orpheus from mythology) supposedly brought religious knowledge from the East to Greece, according to Timotheus, in Cedrenus:
It is allowed that the grand mysteries of the Grecian religion were brought by way of Thrace from Assyria, Persia, Egypt, or other Eastern parts, by a person of the name of Orpheus, or at least that it came from those parts, whoever brought it into Greece.
More trinities:
Woden, Thor
In the Gothic nations, the Supreme God, Teut, was Woden. Woden is the Tamul name for Buddha, and Wednesday is called Budhvar. ‘Teut’ (think Tehuti/Djehuti) looks similar to Deutsche and Teutonic.
The name of Buddha with some of the German nations was Tuisto, and from this came the Teutones, Teutisci, and the Teutonic Knights, and the name of Mercury Teuisco.
Higgins quotes Israel Worsley:
Earth is the daughter and wife of the universal Father . From this mystical union was born the God Thor-Asa Thor, the Lord Thor . He was the firstborn of the Supreme, the greatest of the intelligences, that were born of the union of the two principles .
Maybe Thor-Asa is related to the name Theresa. The 5th day, Thor’s Day is Donder Dag, Thunder Day. Donder and blexen mean thunder and lightning. I noticed this is related to Donner and Blixen. Later, Thor is mentioned as the “middle divinity, a mediator between God and man.” This aligns with Mithras (MiTHORas?), the middle aspect of the Persian trinity, with the ‘thr’ phoneme, as well as other words like Methora, the birthplace of Krishna. By the way, if the thorax is the middle sect of insects, why is the abdomen the bottom? Shouldn’t the AB-domain be the top? Ab means father, as in Abraham or appa/abba, pa, papa, etc.
Krishna
Krishna was from a royal line from his father’s side, born in poverty in a dungeon in Methora/Matura Deorum/Mutra/Mathura on the river Jumna/Jamuna, the 8th child of Devaci and Vasudeva. The room was illuminated immediately after his birth. He could speak at birth and comforted his mother. He was a good shepherd. One of his first miracles was to cure a leper. Krishna danced on the head of a serpent named Calinaga/Calija, while it bit his foot. Krishna raised the dead. Krishna’s mother saw the nations of the world painted in his mouth. Krishna was crucified on a tree, descended into hell, and ascended into Vaicontha/Vaikuntha (sounds like Wakanda). Hari/Heri means saviour, and is related to Heru/Horus, Herakles, hero, etc.
Heres signifies the sun, but in the Arabic the meaning of the radical word is to preserve, and of haris, guardian, preserver.
Maybe Harris and Harry mean preserver? And Higgins states that the Hebrew ‘hrs’ means potter, so thus Harry Potter, Heru Ptah:
The ‘grass’ association with Ceres is clear, but ‘grs’ looks like gears also, which are circular.
Now for the similarities with Jesus. Jesus was descended from King David/Daoud, born to Mary and Joseph in a cave that was used as a stable. Jesus had at least 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The Arabic edition of the Evangelium Infantiae records his birth in Matarea near Hermopolis in Egypt. He also could speak immediately after birth. Jesus was ‘the good shepherd’. One of his first miracles was to cure a leper. Jesus had an encounter with a serpent that poisoned one of his companions, but Jesus’s mother bruised the serpent. Jesus raised the dead. Jesus’s mother saw the nations of the world painted in his mouth. Jesus was crucified, descended into hell, and ascended into heaven.
By the way,
…there is not a manuscript of the Gospels in existence earlier than the sixth century . A strong probability arises that the ancient Gospels were destroyed at this time .
But then again, there are a total of zero writings from Jesus, Buddha, Pythagoras, Socrates, many other ‘figures’.
And most are not allowed to know the esoteric meanings of Christianity:
Every inquirer knows that St. Augustine is looked up to by both Papists and Protestants as one of the first luminaries of the Christian Church ; and he not only professed to teach that there were secret doctrines in the religion, but he went a step farther- for he affirmed, Multa ease vera qum vulgo scire non sit utile, et quaedam quae tametsi falsa aunt, aliter existimare populum expediat : that there were many things true in religion, which it was not convenient for the vulgar to know ; and again, some things which, though false, yet it was expedient should be believed by them .
Surprisingly, Higgins hardly makes any connections between Horus with Jesus like he does with ‘Cristna’. I think it’s disingenuous of him to use his ‘Cristna’ spelling throughout his tome in order to make a closer connection to Jesus Christ, when there is no ‘t’ sound in the Sanskrit spelling. Of course, this kind of obfuscation is one of the major themes of what I’m trying to convey, the investment people have in their belief systems and to ensure no one can get to the bottom of these connections. Not a single mention of the Kemetic krst or karst, etc., that Gerald Massey covers in detail, pun intended:
However, Massey does not mention Sirius either, except by using the term ‘Sothis’, and neither does Higgins, except once. Higgins barely mentions Christos except in reference to it meaning ‘Benignus’, and also meaning black or blue:
the Greek word Christos, anointed, in allusion to the kingly office of the Hebrew Messiah ; … simply signifies, as we shall presently demonstrate, black or dark blue, and was conferred on the Indian God solely on account of his black complexion .
Vithoba/Wittoba and Balaji/Ballaji are different avatar names for Krishna/Vishnu, and Ballaji treads on the head of a serpent, as did Krishna. Jaya-deva or Iaya-deva was the wife of Jina, an incarnation of Vishnu. Higgins asserts that Iaya is yet another variant of Ieye, Ieue, Jehovah, etc. Other names for Vishnu/Krishna: Bala Rama, Bala Cristna, Narayana floating on the waters, Parvati, the Indian Venus. Interesting that Visnu is almost an anagram of Venus. In the old Irish, ‘Creeshna’ means the Sun.
the word Ram… in Hebrew means both Bull and Ram . This arose, I suspect, from the Indian incarnation of Rama, who preceded Cristna . In fact he was the incarnation of the Neros when the Sun left Taurus and entered Aries ;
Heliopolis in Egypt was also known as Maturea, the name of another city where Krishna was born:
This same Heliopolis was the place to which, as has been already shewn, Joseph and Mary fled from Herod, and where Jesus performed great miracles-and, in his time, was called Maturea-the name of the birthplace of Cristna, the Maturea Deorum of Ptolemy .
More similarities amongst myths:
Cristna's escape and preservation by a cowherd from a tyrant, is the same story as Cyrus's, the same as Moses's, the same as Romulus's, and as several others .
Nile River, Black Isis, Black Buddha, etc.
The Nile is a modern name for the river called Siri or Sir in ancient times. The ‘siri’ or ‘sr’ in the black Osiris is related. Osiris is also black and also descended into the underworld and raised the dead. Could ‘sear’ or ‘char’ be related? But also, ‘sire’ means to create into the world, like offspring, and if you have the correct desire, you create something beautiful. So ‘O-siris’ could mean without siring, a virgin birth. Nilo/Neilos/Nilus signify blackness, as in nil, nihilism. The names Neils, Niles, Neal are cognates.
The statues of the Egyptian ‘Demiurgos Kneph’/Cneph/Cnuphis, the “intellectual Author or Creator of the world” has the same dark blue complexion as Krishna as well as “a girdle and a sceptre.”
Thus it was called the river of the sun, or the river sun, or the river of Osiris- as we say, the river of the Amazons, or the river Amazon . And this river flowed from the land of the sun and moon . It arose in the mountains of the moon, and flowed through the land of Sir, perhaps the land of Siriad, where Josephus was told that columns had been placed which were built before the flood
Syria was called Suria. “In Persia, Sure was the old name of the sun .” I wonder if the certainty of the Sun rising every morning is the derivation of the word ‘sure’.
At night and in the West, the Sun is Vishnu : he is Brama in the East and in the morning : and from noon to evening, he is Siva.
Buddha was adored as a square black stone ; so was Mercury ; so was the Roman Terminus . The famous Pessinuntian stone, brought to Rome, was square and black. The sacred black stone at Mecca… and George the Fourth did very wisely to be crowned on the square stone, nearer black than any other colour, of Scotia and Ireland.
In Montfaucon, a black Isis and Orus are described in the printing, but not in the plate . I suspect many of Montfaucon's figures ought to be black, which are not so described . Pausanias states the Thespians to have had a temple and statue to Jupiter the Saviour, and a statue to Love, consisting only of a rude stone ; and a temple to Venus Melainis, or the black .
Ammon was founded by Black doves. One of them flew from Ammon to Dodona and founded it.
At Corinth there was a black Venus .
In my search into the origin of ancient Druids, I continually found, at last, that my labours terminated with something black. Thus the oracles at Dodona, and of Apollo at Delphi, were founded by BLACK doves. Doves are not often, I believe never really, black .
Osiris and his Bull were black ; all the Gods and Goddesses of Greece were black : at least this was the case with Jupiter, Bacchus, Hercules, Apollo, Ammon .
The Goddesses Venus, Isis, Hecati, Diana, Juno, Metis, Ceres, Cybile, are black . The Multimammia is black in the Campidoglio at Rome…
The Linghams in India, anointed with oil, are black : a black stone was adored in numbers of places in India .
…we constantly see busts and statues of the Roman Emperors, made of two kinds of stone ; the human part of the statue of black stone, the drapery white or coloured.
‘Bambino’ is the black Christ. And Krishna means black in Sanskrit, whereas akrishna means not black, white, or pure.
In Book 10, Higgins mentions the Lascars:
I learnt from Mr . Salome, that the Lascars spoke Hebrew . Another Jewish friend met with two of the black Lascars from the Malabar Cochin in London, who were both Jews, and spoke the Hebrew or Chaldee language . They were quite black, and had, in every respect, the Lascar character, not at all like the Jews of the West…
Mr. Finlayson, probably from fear of being laughed at, calls the old capital of Siam Yuthia instead of Judia, as it is called by La Loubere and others . It is from this country that the Lascars come, some of whom were found by Mr. Salome to speak Hebrew.
It is interesting that not much now is searchable regarding these people, mostly overrun by some cartoon called Lascars. They seem to be a mixture of races, united by seafaring jobs: https://mha.mun.ca/mha/mlc/seafarers/lascars/ .
Buddha
Higgins supposes that Buddha emerges from the Age of Taurus and Krishna from the Age of Aries.
… Buddha was universally allowed to be the first of the incarnations ; that Cristna was of later date ; and that, at the aera of the birth of Christ, eight of them had appeared on the earth, and that other two were expected to follow before the end of the Cali-Yug…
This is in contradiction to the belief that Siddhartha Gautama lived in the 6th or 5th Century B.C. as the 9th avatar of Vishnu, Krishna being the 8th. Higgins does not mention Kalki by name at all, just that a tenth incarnation is yet to come.
If variations of a word are any indication of the cultural impact of a mythology, consider ‘Buddha’, where Higgins quotes George Stanley Faber:
“…variously pronounced and expressed Boudh, Bod, Bot, But, Bad, Budd, Buddou, Boutta, Bota, Budso, Pot, Pout, Pota, Poti, and Pouti. The Siamese make the final T or D quiescent, and sound the word Po ; whence the Chinese still further vary it to Pho or Fo . In the Talmudic dialect the name is pronounced Poden or Pooden ; whence the city, which once contained the temple of Sumnaut or Suman-Nath, is called Patten-Sumnaut. The broad sound of the Uor Ou or Oo, passes in the variation Patten into A, pronounced Ah or Au ; and in a similar manner, when the P is sounded B, we meet with Bad, Bat, and Bhat. All these are in fact no more than a ringing of changes on the cognate letters B and P, T and D. Another of his names is Saman, which is varied into Somon, Somono, Santana, Suman-Nath, and Sarmana. From this was borrowed the sectarian appellation of Samaneans, or Sarmaneans . A third is Gautama, which is indifferently expressed Gautameh, Godama, Godam, Codanz, Cadam, Cardanz, and Cardama. This perpetually occurs in composition with the last, as Somono-Codom or Samans-Gautama. A fourth is Saca, Sacya, Siaka, Shaka, Xaca, Xaca-Muni or Xaca-Menu, and Kia, which is the uncompounded form of Sa-Kia. A fifth is Dherma, or Dharma, or Dherma-rajah. A sixth is Hermias, Her-Moye, or Heri-Maya. A seventh is Datta, Dat-Atreya, That-Dana, Date, Tat or Tot, Deva-Tat or Deva-Twasta . An eighth is Jain, Jina, Chin, Jain-Deo, Chin-Deo, or Jain-Eswar. A ninth is Arhan. A tenth is Mahi-Man, Mai- Man, or (if Om be added) Mai-Man-Om. An eleventh is Min-Eswara, formed by the same title Min or Man or Menu joined to Eswara. A twelfth is Gomat or Gonzat-Eswara. A thirteenth, when he is considered as Eswara or Siva, is Ma-Esa or Har-Esa ; that is to say, the great Esa or the Lord Esa. A fourteenth is Dagon or Dagun, or Dak-Po. A fifteenth is Tara-Nath. And a sixteenth is Arca-Bandhu or Kinsman of the Sun
… Wod or Vod is a mere variation of Bod ; and Woden is simply the Tamulic mode of pronouncing Buddha : for in that mode of enunciation, Buddha is expressed Pooden or Poden ; and Poden…”
From the above, some possible connections I came up with: Budapest, Botswana, Battavia, Bud, Budweiser (which is repetitive- wise wiser?), Sinbad, Islamabad, Rajputs, Pol Pot, Patton, Bhutan (later it is spelled Budtan and Bootan), Gdansk, cardamom, Adam Kadmon (Gautama/Cadam/Somono-Codom, etc. Higgins suggests that the ‘Saman Vedas’ are the ‘Buddhas of the Smin or disposers of our system’, similar to the Hebrew smim/shamaiyam.), cadmium, Siam, Shaman, Sakya Muni (surprisingly isn’t listed- but I’m sure the Xaca-Muni is the variant), Oaxaca, Zulu, harissa sauce, Esau (Jesus in the Quran), and a lot of names with ‘naut’ or ‘nath’ in it, as well as Menu (Noah/Nuh). The Jain words are listed, but if so, then might as well mention Dhyana, Dhyan Chohans/Book of Dzyan made famous by Blavatsky, Zen Buddhism, Chan/Chang/Jiang, Seon (Korean Buddhism, so we are back to the Sun, and ‘bur gyo’, Korean for Buddhism literally translates to fire ablaze, since enlightenment implies an abundance of light), John the Baptist (“There is a country of Prester John in Indian Tartary. This is nothing but the Prestre Jnana or John.”), Jonah, Janus/January, Ganesha, etc.
The Celtic Teutates is the Gothic Teut or Tuisto, Buddhas titles of Tat, Datta, or Twashta. Taranis is Tara-Nath . Hesus of Gaul is, Esa, Ma-Hesa, and Har-Esa. But those are by the Latin writers called Mercury .'
Mahesa is another name for Shiva, and like ‘Hesus’, the ‘Esa’ could be a reference to the Great Hesus/Jesus/Esau. And you see a relationship between Buddha/Tat and Mercury/Taut/Taht/Tehuti/Thoth/Hermes, as well as Teutonic tribes (the planet Mercury in Jyotish is called Budh). Is the Tau/cross also related?
…the worship of Buddha is every where to be found-in Wales, Scotland, and Ireland . Hu, the great God of the Welsh, is called Buddwas ; and they call their God Budd, the God of victory, the king who rises in light and ascends the sky . In Scotland, the country people frighten their children by telling them, that old Bud or the old man will take them . In India, one of the meanings of the word Buddha is old man.
…Sanskrit Root, Budh, to know, to be aware ; Budhyati, he knows, is aware ; Bodhayami, I inform, I teach .
Buddhi, wisdom ; Buddha, sage, wise ; Bodha, WISDOM.
…bda in the Hebrew means, to devise of himself alone ; or I should say, to think or theorise. In Arabic it means, to begin to produce, or to devise something new .
Two facts seem to be universally agreed upon by all persons who have written respecting Buddha. The first is, that at last he is always found to resolve himself into the sun, or as the higher principle of which the sun is the image or emblem, or of which the sun is the residence. The second is, that the word Buddha means WISDOM. Now, we cannot believe that this wisdom would be called by so singular a name as Buddha, without a cause . It has been observed by several philosophers that the letters B D, B T, universally convey the idea either of former or of creator . But Genesis says the world was formed by WISDOM. Wisdom was the Buddha or former of the world : thus WISDOM, I conceive, became called Bud . Wisdom was the first emanation, so was Buddha . Wisdom was the Logos by which the world was formed ; but Buddha was the Creator : thus the Logos and Budd are identical, the same second person of the Trinity.
Maybe the root ‘bud’ is fitting in the sense that we are all buds from our Mother Earth. And belly ‘button’ is what’s left of the umbilicus when we bud off our mother. Later Higgins quotes the philologist, Walter Whiter:
almost universally the two letters B, D, meant to form or to produce. This is confirmed by Parkhurst, who says, that in the Arabic bda means to begin, to produce. The Bda is the Vda, which means both self-producer, our Genesis, and Wisdom, the personification of the first production . bdim are conjurers or wise men, whence, says Parkhurst, perhaps the Latin word VATES
And consider that al/el also means ‘from’, as in natural, from nature/neter/spirit. I sometimes think ‘neter’ means not material, ne-terra, not terrestrial (as opposed to Mother Nature or Mother Earth, which is terrestrial).
Maia is the mother of Buddha, as well as of Mercury. Mary/Maria of course is Jesus’s mother/mater.
All the three women who attended Jesus at his death were called Marys,- Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary, the mother of James, and Mary Salome .
Maya is called the great mother, the universal mother . She is called Devi, or the Goddess-the Grand Bhavani, the mother of gods and of men . She is the mother of the Trimurti, or the being called the Creator, Preserver, and Destroyer, whom she conceived by Brahm and when the Brahmins can get no farther in their mystics, they finish by calling her Illusion… The Burmese make Maria, or Maha-Maria, the mother of their God Somon-Codom, who was Buddha .
Higgins associates Buddha with Metis: “he is the Protogonos or first-begotten, the God or Goddess Metis of the Greeks, being, perhaps, both male and female.” Metis, the Oceanid nymph, daughter of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys, has Athena with Zeus, the Minerva equivalent. Metis is associated with wisdom.
Jupiter took Metis, to wife : and as soon as he found her pregnant, he devoured her: in consequence of which HE became pregnant, and out of his head was born Pallas or Minerva .
Similar to Metis are the names Amita, Amida:
…one of [Buddha’s] epithets is Amita . The Fo of China was the son of Mo-ya, and one of his epithets is Om-e-to ; and in Japan, whose natives are of Chinese origin, the same God Fo is worshiped under the name of Amida… The Metis is well known to mean divine wisdom…
Buddha’s mythology of course is similar to other immaculate births, some say from the androgynous Brahme-Maia, not in her matrix womb, but from her right side, as some attribute Jesus’s birth from Mary.
The followers of Buddha teach that he descended from a celestial mansion into the womb of Maha-Maya, spouse of Soutadanna, king of Megaddha on the north of Hindostan, and member of the family of Sakya Sa-kia, the most illustrious of the caste of Brahmins . His mother, who had conceived him, (BY A RAY OF LIGHT, according to De Guignes,) sans souillure, without defilement, that is, the conception was immaculate, brought him into the world after ten months without pain . He was born at the foot of a tree, and he did not touch the earth, Brahma having sought him to receive him in a vase of gold, and Gods, or kings the incarnations of Gods, assisted at his birth . The Mounis and Pundits (prophets and wise men) recognized in this marvellous infant all the characters of the divinity, and he had scarcely seen the day before he was hailed Devata-Deva, God of Gods .
Samson, Samuel, and John the Baptist were also from virgin births, like Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, etc. And Osiris was also mentioned as meaning ‘without siring’, as opposed to sire, so o-sire. I’ve always thought that when you truly ‘desire’ something, you sire it into the world, from sire. So if you have true desire, you can create a beautiful baby or invention. But with false, materialistic desires, you only take away from the world and not contribute anything back.
Buddha is also “a God of pity, the guardian or saviour of mankind, the anchor of salvation.” Buddha also means ‘shepherd’.
Higgins ties the name ‘Saxon’ or Sacae as well as the Ark/Argo to Buddha:
Now, in the Collectanea of Ouseley, we find Budh, Buth, Both, fire, the sun; Buide lachd, the great fire of the Druids . We also find in Vallancey's ancient Irish history, that they brought over from the East the worship of Budh-dearg, or king Budh, who was of THE FAMILY OF SACASA, or bonus Saca. In the Hindoo Chronology there is a Buddha Muni, who descended in the family of Sacya : and one of his titles was Arca-bandu, or Kinsman of the Sun .
Ammonius Saccus, one of the founders of Neoplatonism, could be related to ‘Sacya Muni’ or Shakyamuni Buddha (Manly P. Hall, however, says that his name refers to a sack, because he was a porter! This seems disingenuous, since his Secret Teachings of All Ages cites Higgins over 30 times.).
The Arca-bandhu, above-mentioned, is the same as the word Nau-banda, and has the same meaning, as well as that of Kinsman of the Sun, if Arca-bandu have that meaning ; arg, in Chaldee, means ship .
So the surname, Naubandian/Nalbandian is related, as is nautical, nautilus, etc. The ‘bands’ refer to the cords tying the mast to the ship, like the umbilical cord (sounds like Omphi). And nabhi means navel in Sanskrit. And consider, “the centre part of our churches was called Nave.” Higgins constantly refers to the Temple of Jaggernaut, which is now commonly known as Jagganath but juggernaut is related. He says Jaggernaut means the great creator, Yah being a root. So Mick Jagger, Chuck Yeager are related. (btw, here is one of my favorite songs)
A certain order of persons called Samaneans are noticed by Porphyry and Clemens Alexandrinus . I do not doubt that these are the Somonokodomites of Siam, and the Buddha called by them their leader- to be the Buddha of Siam, who, as Surya with the seven heads, is the sun and the seven planets.
Later, “the Samaneans were the sacerdotal order both in Bactria and in Persia,” i.e., the Magi priests. Again, this could be related to the word shaman.
What was suitable to the sun in Taurus, would, for the most part, be suitable to him in Aries, and it was probably about this change that a great war took place between the followers of Buddha and Cristna, when ultimately the Buddists were expelled from Lower India. This was the war of the Maha-barata . Maha means great, and Barata is the Hebrew bra and brat, and means Creator or Regenerator . This, I have no doubt, was the meaning of this proper name, in the old language . What meaning the Brahmins may give to it, in their beautiful, ARTIFICIAL Sanscrit, I do not know .
Higgins only mentions that Bharat is India in Book 10 (he calls it Bharata).
More insights into astrological processes:
The Hermes of Egypt, or Buddha, was well known to the ancient Canaanites, who had a temple to erm, “The Projector, by which they seem to have meant the material spirit, or rather heavens, considered as projecting, impelling, and pushing forwards, the planetary bodies in their courses.”
This ‘erm’, if a projector, sounds also like ‘arm’, and armaments are projectiles, and Gemini (Mercury/Hermes) rules the arms. Are we bound or do we have free will?
The name of the most ancient Bull, that was united with the first man Key-Umurth, is said to have been Aboudad. But Aboudad, like the Abbuto of the Japanese, is plainly nothing more than Ab-Boud-dat, or "father Buddh-Datta." But this is not the only proof of the Buddhism of the Persians . According to the Desatir of Moshani, Maha-bad, i. e. the great Buddha, was the first king of Persia and of the whole world, and the same as the triplasian Mithras . Buddha has his three characters, the same as Brahma, which produced three sects, like those of the Brahmins- that of Buddha or Gautama, that of Jana or Jina, and that of Arhan or Mahiman . I think in the last of these titles may be found the Ahriman or the Ma-Ahriman, the destroyer, of Persia.
…Jeyne Ishura, or Jeyne the preserver and guardian of mankind. Here is the Indian Osiris as preserver, or saviour, from the same root as the Hebrew iso, to save . Buddha in Egypt was called Hermes Trismegistus ; Lycophron calls him Tricephalus.
Tricephalus means three-headed, referring to the trinity aspect of the Sun or God. Mercury was also called Triceps.
Higgins asserts that the island of Java is Ieua, i.e., Ieue. It does sound like Yahweh or Jove/Iove.
The island of Java is called by the natives Tana Jawa, that is, Ieuetana, (the last syllable the same as in Mauritania, &c .,) and Nusa Iawa, that is, island Ieue ;
Palli
[Buddha]…born to be king of the people of Sion, of the country of JUDIA, of the tribe of YUDA, whose language was that of the Baali of Siam and Persia- of the people called Palli, or Pallestini or Philistines…
This root ‘Pali’, which is a dead language, seems to be everywhere, from Bali in Indonesia, and here it is in Siam, Persia, Palestine, and maybe Nepal. Is ‘Sion’ a variant of Zion?
The Palli were the Phoenicians who came from the Persian Gulf, according to Herodotus, the people who spoke the Pali, Bali, or Pahali tongue . "As touching the Baly tongue, M. Harbelot (D' Herbelot) informed me, that the ancient Persian is called Pahalevi, Pahali, and that between Pahali and Bahali the Persians make no difference. And that the word Pout, which in Persian signifies an idol, or false God, and which doubtless signified Mercury, when the Persians were idolaters, signifies Mercury amongst the Sianieses." Sommona-Codom is also called Pout, which is a Bali word. "The sacred language of the Jains or Buddhists is Pracrit or Pali ." Jones, in his Dissertation on the Persians, says, that the Pehlevi was a dialect of the Chaldaic, or, in other words, that they were the same language originally . But, in another place he says, that the Pali, i. e. Bali or Pahali or Pehleve, are all the same . This accounts for the God Baal being found in Syria or Assyria.
The word Palestine seems derived from Pallisthan, the seat of the Pallis or Shepherds. Palli, in India, means Shepherd.
I always wondered what Pali meant, or whether Nepal is related to Pali. Palliate means to cloak, so is that like ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’?
When the Grand Seignor means to honour a person he gives him a Pellise, a Pall, a pla, a sacred cloak, a remnant of the old superstition, the meaning probably being forgotten. From this comes the word palls at our funerals .
Neros Cycle
Higgins introduces the ‘Neros Cycle’ of 600 or 608 years by showing that the numerology of the Greek Phi Rho Epsilon (Pharaoh) has a value of 608, tying it to Eastern words that relate to mother/matrix and ray/area/space, as well as Mata Hari:
among some Oriental languages Matarea signifies the sun . This may be proved from the Malayan language, expressed Mataharii, and Matta-harri, and Mattowraye, and Matta'ree, and from that of the Sumatrans at Acheen . It seems to be a compound of Matta and Ree, the ancient Egyptian word for the Sun, which is still retained in the Coptic, and, with the aspirate, is rendered Phree . This Phree is, I doubt not, the Coptic [Phi Rho Epsilon], explained in my Celtic Druids, to mean the number 608
Higgins writes voluminously about this supposed 600 or 608 year Neros Cycle (although cycles of different lengths were also theorized) when a new age is ushered in with the coming of a new Christ or Buddha-like figure that Isaiah, the Sybelline prophecies, and others predicted (Isaiah predicted an ‘Emmanuel’, Manu El, or Hebrew ‘Omnual’, i.e., Om/Aum, some say Jesus’s name in his youth, but in Isaiah’s case, some say Cyrus the Persian king). He cites George Stanley Faber again:
(Virgil) celebrates the expected birth of a wonderful child, who was destined to put an end to the age of iron, and to introduce a new age of gold, (precisely the idea of Isaiah) . The last period sung by the Sibylline prophetess, is now arrived ; and the grand series of ages, " THAT SERIES WHICH RECURS AGAIN AND AGAIN IN THE COURSE OF ONE MUNDANE REVOLUTION, " begins afresh. Now the Virgin Astrea returns from heaven ; and the primaeval reign of Saturn recommences ; now a new race descends from the celestial realms of holiness .
Higgins shows how certain words numerologically add up to 600 or 608, signifying the word’s importance, and that certain letters were purposely added into words to give it a certain value, such as the Hebrew mem, which has a value of 600.
Higgins cites how the Phoenix rises at the end of each Neros cycle:
Solinus says, it is a thing well known to all the world, that the grand year terminates at the same time as the life of the Phoenix. This is confirmed by Manilius and Pliny . George Syncellus says, that the Phoenix which appeared in Egypt, in the reign of Claudius, had been seen in the same country 654 years before.
The alternate destruction of the world by fire and water was taught by Plato. In his Timaeus he says, that the story of Phaeton's burning the world has reference to a great dissolution of all things on the earth, by fire . Gale shews that the Jews, as well as Plato, maintained that the world would be destroyed at the end of 6000 years ; that then the day of judgment would come : manifestly the Jewish and Christian Millenium .
This would be after 10 cycles, the appearance of Kalki.
The doctrine of the renewal of worlds has been well treated by Dr . Pritchard . He shews that the dogma was common to several of the early sects of philosophers in Greece ; that traces of it are found in the remains of Orpheus ; that it was a favourite Doctrine of the Stoics, and was regarded as one of the peculiar tenets of that school ; and that we are indebted chiefly to their writings for what we know of this ancient philosophy . But although the successive catastrophes are shewn to have been most evidently held by them, yet, from the doctor's account, it is very clear that they were not generally understood ; some philosophers describing the catastrophes to have taken place in one way, some in another ; some by water, some by fire, and some by both alternately . " Seneca, the tragedian, teaches that all created beings are to be destroyed, or resolved into the untreated essence of the divinity ;" and “Plutarch makes the Stoic Cleanthes declare that the moon, the stars, and the sun will perish, and that the celestial ether, which, according to the Stoics, was the substance of the Deity, will convert all things into its own nature, or assimilate them to itself . And Seneca compares the self-confidence of the philosopher to the insulated happiness of Jupiter, who, after the world has melted away, and the gods are resolved into one essence, when the operations of nature cease, withdraws himself for a while into his own thoughts, and reposes in the contemplation of his own perfections ." The Doctor shews that the same thing was affirmed by Chrysippus, Zeno, and Cleanthes ; and we find passages similar to the foregoing cited by Cicero, Numenius, Philo Judteus, and many others.
It seems people nowadays are catching on to simulation theories, resets, catastrophes/disasters (astro/aster), Samvartaka, etc.
Plutarch in Sylla has stated, that on a certain clear and serene day, a trumpet was heard to sound which was so loud and clear, that all the world was struck with fear. On the priests of Etruria being consulted they declared, that a new age was about to commence, and a new race of people to arise,- that there had been EIGHT races of people, different in their lives and manners, - that God has allotted to each race a fixed period, which is called the great year, that when one period is about to end and another to begin, the heaven or the earth marks it by some great prodigy.
The letter M in Irish was called Vin or Muin:
It has been repeatedly observed, that the M is often prefixed to words in a way that is quite unaccountable. I will try to explain it . Every one knows that the vine was sacred to Bacchus . The final letter M stands for 600, now the length of the Neros ; but I have shewn in Book V Ch . II . Sect . 5, that the length of this cycle was at first supposed to be 666 . This was made up of M its figure or monogram and VIN its name. Vin was the name of the letter M, when the letters had the names of trees in Irish and Hebrew, and jointly they made 666, the number in that very early day sacred to Buddha, Bacchus, and Sol in Taurus, thus M = 600 u = 6 i = 10 n = 50 [equals] 666. Muin the name of the letter M in the old Irish. After the error of the 666 was discovered, and after the equinoctial sun got into Aries ; when Cristna arose and Buddha became a heretic, for the double reason, 666 became the mark of the beast, of the dead cycle, and X was then substituted. But still in the arithmetic the M in some nations would continue to keep its power. The Irish and the Hebrews kept it, the Greeks changed it…
Pythagoras, Tetractys
Higgins details the comparisons between Jesus and Pythagoras in furthering his thesis that cultures had similar Sun/son mythologies:
they were natives of nearly the same country ; the former being born at Sidon, the latter at Bethlehem, both in Syria . The father of Pythagoras, as well as the father of Jesus, was prophetically informed that his wife should bring forth a son, who should be a benefactor to mankind . They were both born when their mothers were from home on journeys: Joseph and his wife having gone up to Bethlehem to be taxed, and the father of Pythagoras having travelled from Samos, his residence, to Sidon, about his mercantile concerns . Pythais, the mother of Pythagoras, had a connexion with an Apolloniacal spectre, or ghost, of the God Apollo, or God Sol, (of course this must have been a holy ghost, and here we have THE Holy Ghost, which afterward appeared to her husband, and told him that he must have no connexion with his wife during her pregnancy-a story evidently the same as that relating to Joseph and Mary. From these peculiar circumstances ; Pythagoras was known by the same identical title as Jesus, namely, the Son of God ; and was supposed by the multitude to be under the influence of Divine inspiration .
He spent many years of his youth in Egypt, where he was instructed in the secret learning of the priests, as Jesus, in the Apocryphal Gospels, is said to have been, and was carried thence to Babylon by Cambyses, the iconoclast and restorer of the Jewish religion and temple, where he was initiated into the doctrines of the Persian Magi . Thence he went to India…
Higgins states that Iamblichus/Jamblichus called the Pythagoreans Coenobitae. I cannot find anything on this in relation to Pythagoras, only coconut crabs, but according to Wiktionary, it has the meaning of ‘brother, fellow monk’. He states that the Essenes were called something similar:
Essenians, called Koinobii, lived in Egypt on the lake of Parembole or Maria, in monasteries . These are the very places in which we formerly found the Gymnosophists or Samaneans or Buddhist priests to have lived, which Gymnosophistae are placed also by Ptolemy in North-eastern India .
The Tetractys triangle of the ten numbers, attributed to Pythagoras, was considered the ‘perfection of nature’, as was described earlier with the number 10, and that Buddha was born after 10 months in the womb. The Tetractys was
nothing but the Tetragrammaton of the Hebrews-the sacred name, ieue or ieu-e -THE self-existent, the I am, often called the name of four letters, or, in other words, the TETRACTYS . This is confirmed by what, according to Aristotle, Pythagoras said of his Triad. " He affirmed that the whole and all things are terminated by three ." Here are the three letters of the sacred word, without the emphatic article,-the three signifying I am Jah. Of the Tetractys he says, "Through the superior world is communicated from the Tetractys to the "inferior, LIFE and the being (not accidental, but substantial) of every species ." "The Tetractys " is the divine mind communicating ."
10, X, Tau, Crux Ansata, Phoenix, etc.
Arion was a divine incarnation, begotten by the gods, in the citadel Byrsa, and the Magna Mater brought him forth after TEN MONTHS. Hercules was a TEN MONTHS' child, as were also Meleager, Pelias, Neleus, and Typhon. The child foretold in the fourth eclogue of Virgil was also a ten months' child . Augustus also was the produce, after a ten months' pregnancy, of a mysterious connexion of his mother with a serpent in the temple of Apollo . The ten months' pregnancy of all the persons named above, had probably an astrological allusion to the ten ages . The name of Augustus, given to Octavius, was allusive to his sacred character of presiding daemon of the Munda, or cycle. Solomon, according to the Bible, was also a ten months' child .
And Roman numeral X is 10, as well as the symbol for Christ:
Plato, in his Timaeus, philosophizing about the Son of God says, He expressed him upon the universe in the figure of the letter X, he evidently took the hint from Moses ;
“The next power to the Supreme God was decussated or figured in the shape of a cross on the universe .” These opinions of Plato were taken from the doctrine of Pythagoras relating to numbers, which were extremely mystical, and are certainly not understood . Here we have the Son of GOD typified by the X, hundreds of years before Christ was born, but this is in keeping with the Platonic Trinity
the Egyptians expressed the number ten by the word mid, that is, perfection; and the Irish call it deag, a word of like meaning and for this reason the Chaldeans formed the word jod, or number ten, by an equilateral triangle… which was the symbol of perfection with the Egyptians. The Egyptians doubled the triangle, thus X, and then it became a cross of St. Andrew, or the letter X or ten, that is, perfection, being the perfect number, or the number of figures on both hands: hence it stood for ten with the Egyptians, Chinese, Phoenicians, Romans, &c… The Mexicans also use the same figure in their secular calendars. The Tartars call it lama, from the Scythian lamh, a hand, synonymous to the jod of the Chaldeans, and thus it became the name of a cross, and of the high priest of the Tartars; and with the Irish, luam signifies the head of the church, an abbot, &c.
So the Kemetic word ‘mid’ seems to have the same connotation as balance, zeropoint/midpoint, middle path, etc. And the middle of the X hourglass is the present moment, the presence you need to be non-dualistic, the zeropoint calm in the storm. And the Vagus nerve is the 10th cranial nerve, where the right and left pathways cross, where the Christos gets ‘crucified’. This Tartarian ‘lama’ is related to the Dalai Lama- lamh in the Tibetan language means cross, and ‘ten was Lamb’:
In the above screenshot, we see that the pole star is related to X, 10, iuta, jude, etc., and considering that this pole is the mast for the Earth ship, the lingam/yoni, etc., it is fitting that the numerals 1 and 0 represent ten, the mast and the argo, the yang and yin.
Higgins does not give sources, but he talks about some planetary glyphs:
Saturn's astrological character was a cross and a ram's-horn . Jupiter also bore a cross, with a horn .
And before Marvel flooded search results, you could easily find that Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir, looks like a T but also a cross with the top part jutting out.
The cross, X, T, Tau, Taut/Tehuti/Thoth/Hermes, etc. are all connected. Maybe ‘t’ is related to death because we ‘cross’ into another plane of reality, as we do when born onto our plane-t, and besides, the glyph for the Earth is a cross inside of a circle. Higgins quotes Ruffinus: " The cross among the Egyptians was an hieroglyphic, importing the life that is to come ." The X or 10 is also the beginning of another order of magnitude in counting numbers.
The symbol above, combining P and T/tau is related to the neter Ptha (P Tau) and is a variant of the famous Chi Rho symbol, which is not mentioned in his tome at all.
Higgins says that the Crux Ansata is the well-known glyph of Venus, “a cross and a circle.” However, most people nowadays think of the Crux Ansata as the ankh symbol, which is slightly different. He does not mention ‘ankh’ at all. Notice Tutankhamun has teut, ankh, and amun in his name.
Taut again is the same as the Oriental Tat or Buddha . The Tau, T, is the emblem of Mercury, of Hermes . It is the crux ansata, and the crux Hermis. It was the last letter of the ancient alphabets, the end or boundary, whence it came to be used as a terminus to districts ; but the crux Tau was also the emblem of the generative power, of eternal transmigrating life, and thus was used indiscriminately with the Phallus . It was, in fact, the phallus. The Tau is the Thoth, the Teut, the Teutates of the Druids ; and Teutates was Mercury, in the Sanscrit called Cod or Somona-cod-om ; and in German God . In old German Mercury was called Got. The remains of the crosses are to be found in the highways at the boundaries of the parishes, and every where at cross-road ends in this country . They have precisely the same meaning as the Roman Terminuses, and had the same origin.
So we see that Iamblichus considered the masculine and feminine energies as fundamental, as did everyone- circles, cycles, and crossing through realities. Remember, Tehuti sounds similar to tau, and the Caduceus symbol used by medical organizations includes a cross:
The word [Greek Kerux] or Ceryx, the Herald, was derived from the Hebrew word qrs, and meant the cross or the caduceus of Mercury or of Buddha. The Herald or Ceryx, Littleton translates Caduceator, and from it Lardner derives the word crux . It is very curious to observe how every thing connected with a cross comes at last, when sought to the bottom, to be connected with Hermes, Mercury, or Buddha- the Taranis of the Druid oak . The caduceus was either a crucifix or a cross. I very much suspect that our coats of arms, and particularly our crests, came from the Crestian or Cretian mythos . The ancients had their crests . The figure carried on the shield or banner was the emblem of the [Greek Chres] or good daemon ; therefore every people who adored the [Greek Chres] or good daemon would have a crest . From the first word emblem, or whatever word stood in the place of emblem, being in regimine, it came to have the name of crest… The Druids of Ireland carried in their hands the Crux ansata, called a key, or in their language kire or cire. This we must recollect was carried by the Gods or priests of Egypt, and is also found in a very remarkable manner in the hands of many of the bearded Druidical-looking figures, given by Mr. Hammer, either as figures of the Templars, or as emblematical figures used by them .
Crest also means apex, appropriately. And I see ‘emblem’ as possibly ‘m-bol-m’. Embolism is related.
The Irish words Phennische (the Neros/Phoenix cycle) and Phanes/Fan, an Irish God in their trinity, both have values of 608. Notice how the Swastika could be viewed as a Phoenix bird. The number 7 is said to be the head and neck of the swan, and w and v are interchangeable, so seven is similar to swan and the Swedish name Swen.
In an old Irish Glossary the Phoenix is said to be a bird which lives 600 years or turns of Beal, or the sun, with all the remainder of the history of the burning, &c . Phanes is called Protogonos, and had the head of a Bull.
It’s interesting that the word phenomenon and its inverse, noumenon, have similar roots to Phennische/Phenice/Phanes and Nu/nous/Menu/Nuh/Noah/Vishnu, as if phenomena rise up and materialize/reify to reach our senses whereas noumena occupy an intangible mental realm. And recall that Omun/Ammon spelled backwards in Greek is Numo. More words related to Nu/Menu/Manu: Enuma Elish, numen/numinous, Ahrimanu, Ohmanum, Emmanuel, Menes/Menas, who gave the first laws in Kemet (like a MANUal of laws), Minos, who gave the first laws in Crete, the son of Jupiter/Iao and Io, and Men-des (divine mind) or Pan of Egypt- maybe related to the Irish Fan/Phanes/Phoenix. Sounds like Men-des is related to the surname Mendes/Mendoza. And the Kemetic Bennu bird worshipped in places like On is associated with the Phoenix, according to Gerald Massey. And Bennu is similar to Menu.
There were 14 Mahabads (maha-buds, major/great buds) in Buddhism as well as 14 Menus. So it seems cities with ‘bad’ in its name has to do with Buddhism, e.g., Islamabad, Hyderabad, Abbottabad (abbots could be related to Buddha!), etc. However, Higgins later states that ‘abad’ means town or abode, which is similar to abad.
Great numbers of towns in India are called Abad. This seems to be the same word as that used in the name of the fourteen Mahabads, who, we are told, lived before the flood : but I suppose it means the abode of, as Moorshed-abad, the abode or residence of Moorshed ; or Amidabad, the abode of Amid . I can scarcely doubt that the abad, when meaning town, is the English word abode. The recesses in the temples in which the icons of their Gods are placed are called Stalla : these are the stalls of our stables, and of the canons or prebendaries in our cathedrals . The towns at the mouths of rivers are often called patam, as Masulipatam or Kistna-patam : this means town of Potamos or the river Masuli or Kistna.
Also, Pakistan is referred as Baghi-stan, referring to Bacchus, so this makes me notice that ‘Bhagavad’ Gita refers to something similar, ‘lord’:
Bacchus was also the Baghis of India, as Sir W. Jones has shewn . Baghi-stan in Persia was the town of Bacchus .
Higgins cites the monk Bernard de Montfaucon’s L' antiquité expliquée et représentée en figures / Antiquitas explanatione et schematibus illustrata, which has the below hermaphroditic figure of Isis sitting on a lotus with an inscription described below, and in keeping with the esotericism, I will leave it at that:
… the God Indra nailed to a cross, with five wounds. These crosses are to be seen in Nepaul, especially at the corners of roads and on eminences . Indra is said to have been crucified by the keepers of the Hindoo garden of Paradise for having robbed it.
The Pradesh region of India is related to ‘Paradise’.
Menu, Noah, Ark, etc.
Back to Menu and how it could mean Meru based on the derivation of Armenia, considered a site where the Ark can be found:
…Meru and Menu were mere dialectic variations . In this I am supported by Mons. La Loubere, who states that Maria and Mania are written and used indiscriminately in the Siamese language : and this fact, when it is considered that the whole Eastern mythos was removed to the West, justifies a suspicion that along with the others came the oriental il-avratta, or mount of Meru, and that we have it in the mount now called Baris and Armenia : that is, Ar or Er-Meni-ia, the country of mount Meru or Meni . The mount Baris is the mount of Nau-banda. Dr. Jones says, Baris, [is] a structure of any sort, a boat or barge . The mount of Naubanda, in the Indian language, is said to mean ship-cabled mount . To this mount in the flood of Noah the Ark was said to be fastened . The word Nau is the Latin Navis, and the Greek Naus : and the word band is a common English word for a cord or cable
I always thought the Kemetic Barque is related to the words barge, ark and embark, so ‘baris’ seems close. The Latin Navis mentioned reminds me of the constellation Argo Navis, and of course, navy, naval, navel, nautilus, etc. Also, this is interesting:
In Gen. ix. 20, Noah is called by Moses ais eadme, that is, the husband of the earth. Thus Saturn was the husband of Rhea .
In Greek mythology, Uranus is the sky god husband of Gaia, and they begat Saturn/Kronos and Rhea, Kronos’s husband as well. ‘Nu’ is in the word Uranus, and if we take ‘primordial waters’ to be the sky, then this aspect seems fitting.
Some connections between the ‘great fathers’ Adam, Noah, Menu, and Manwantara:
Yet this compound great father, as the whole of his history shews, is not the true God ; but a being, who has been made to usurp his attributes. He is primarily Adam and the Earth, and secondarily Noah and the Ark . In the former case, his three emanations of children, who partake of his nature, and who discharge his pretended functions, are Cain, Abel, and Seth ; in the latter, they are Shem, Ham, and Japhet . Accordingly, Brahm himself is declared to be the same as Menu ; and Brahma, Vishnou, and Siva, are identified with those three sons of Menu, who appear at the commencement of every Manwantara, whose proper human names are said by the Hindoos to be Sanea and Cama and Pra-Japati, and who transmit to their descendants the sceptre of sovereignty throughout the " whole duration of their allotted period . "
Brahm then at the head of the Indian triad, is Menu at the head of his three sons. But that by the first Menu we are to understand Adam is evident, both from the remarkable circumstance of himself and his consort bearing the titles of Adina and Iva, and from the no less remarkable tradition that one of his three sons was murdered by his brother at a sacrifice .
There are eight persons in the ark, answering to the sun and seven planetary bodies.
Adina (and Adin) sounds a lot like Eden.
Samson, Hercules, etc.
The Ishvara/Vishnu is tied to Samson:
Samson… smsun, is explained by Calmet and Cruden to mean his sun. This explanation I greatly doubt . Samson answers correctly to the Hindoo incarnation Shama, or Shama-Jaya, which is one of the thousand names of Vishnu… Bal-iswara was the son of this Shama, and the Sem-i-ramis of Assur, of Scripture .
More serpent biting foot or heel mythology- this time with Hercules:
Mr. Faber says, " On the sphere he (Hercules) is represented in the act of contending with the serpent, the head of which is placed under his foot : and this serpent, we are told, is that which 'guarded the tree with golden fruit in the midst of the garden of the Hesperides . But the garden of the Hesperides, as we have already seen, was no other than the garden of Paradise
The image below is from Robert Williams’s video, The Constellations (Part 1) , where he quotes Genesis 3:15, which he says is referring to Ophiuchus stomping on Scorpio, but above that is Hercules stomping on the head of Draco the dragon. Most interpretations say the ‘woman’ is referring to Jesus’s mother, the Virgin Mary, and Satan is the head being bruised.
And Krishna’s brother was analagous to Hercules, with a club instead of the jawbone of an ass:
The Indian Hercules, according to Cicero, was called Belus . He is the same as BALA, the brother of CRISHNA, and both are conjointly worshiped at Mutra ; indeed, they are considered as one Avatar or incarnation of Vishnu. Bala is represented as a stout man, with a club in his hand. He is called also Balarama.
As Bala sprung from Vishnu or Heri, he is certainly Heri-cula, Heri-culas, and Hercules . Here we see the Ball or Bol, of Assyria and Ireland, the Bel of Syria and Phoenicia, and the Belinus of Gaul.
As Hercules was called Heri-cules so Mercury was called Mer-coles, or Mer-colis . The Mer I do not understand ; the colis is the clo of the Chaldees- the Cali of India, and the Coll or Cal of Ireland. Col. Wilford speaks of a God called Hara-ja or Hara-cula.
Some interesting possible connections with the words sofa and divan:
I have shewn, from Mr . Bryant, that the last syllable in the word Maturea, viz . re, meant the sun. The first syllable, I suspect, was the Hebrew mte, which meant a resting-place, a couch, a bed, a sofa or sopha, (that is, as the Re was a ray of the sun which was Wisdom,) or soph-ia or place of wisdom, -a resting-place of divine wisdom- a Divan, that is, Deva-ana or holy place, where, in the Asiatic courts, is the Sopha on which the king reposes to administer justice .
The seat of justice was probably in the outer court of the palace, where the king came to administer justice, whence all porches were called gates or polises . The mention of the Sofa brings me to an inquiry, why our highest law officer, the Chancellor, is seated on a large sofa of wool . The word Sophia is wisdom. But soph also means wool, and from this double meaning came the sofa of wool .
I wonder if the word ‘soft’ derives from this soph wool?
